How long have you been with the company, and what’s your journey been like so far?
I’ve been with Wormall for nearly 3 years, and it’s been an incredible journey. Prior to working at Wormall, I was a bookkeeping, but I always had an interest in the work out on the field. It was a big change moving from the office into civil construction, but once I got out on-site, I knew it was where I wanted to be.
What inspired you to move into a leadership role on-site?
I was lucky to work under two amazing supervisors. They both really inspired me not just with their knowledge, but with how they led by example. Watching them work and lead the team sparked something in me. I wanted to grow, challenge myself, and be that kind of leader too.
What’s been the biggest learning curve stepping up into supervision?
The biggest learning curve has definitely been juggling everything that comes with the role from managing crews and scheduling to problem-solving on the fly. You have to stay one step ahead, and there’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that. But I’ve learned quickly, and I enjoy the challenge.
What’s a typical day on-site look like for you now?
Every day is different, but that’s what I love about it. My day usually starts with planning and prep Making sure the team has what they need, checking in on progress, and sorting out any issues that pop up. From there, it’s all about keeping things moving, staying across safety, quality, and making sure we’re hitting our targets.
What’s your favourite part about being on-site every day?
I love seeing the site come together from the groundworks to the final stages. Knowing I’m a part of making that happen, and seeing the results of our hard work, is really rewarding. It’s something I’m proud of every single day.
