QUALITY, HEALTH & SAFETY
Quality Assurance
Wormall Civil holds independent third‑party certification to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems, giving clients confidence that every project is delivered consistently, transparently and in accordance with contractual, statutory and regulatory requirements. The certified Quality Management System (QMS) supports all phases of delivery, from tender and design coordination through to construction, commissioning and handover.
A dedicated Quality Manager, supported by experienced HSEQ professionals and site‑based project teams, oversees the implementation of the QMS across our operations. Regular internal audits and external surveillance audits confirm ongoing compliance with AS/NZS ISO 9001:2015 and drive continuous improvement in our procedures, records and on‑site practices.
For each project, Wormall Civil establishes clear quality objectives, inspection and test plans (ITPs), hold points and verification requirements aligned with specifications and relevant standards. This structured, risk‑based approach ensures materials, workmanship, documentation and as‑constructed information are fully traceable, defensible and readily auditable for clients and stakeholders.
Through our Continuous Improvement Program (CIP), Wormall Civil actively captures feedback from clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams via surveys, project close‑out reviews and lessons‑learned forums. Senior management reviews this feedback to identify improvement opportunities, embed better practices and recognise high performance, so that learnings from each project directly inform future delivery.
This strong quality culture, built on planning, collaboration and early risk identification, enables Wormall Civil to deliver fit‑for‑purpose civil infrastructure that is cost‑effective, durable and constructed to a high standard.
Wormall Civil promotes a “Think Safe – Act Safe” culture at all levels of the organisation, encouraging proactive hazard and near‑miss reporting, open communication and visible safety leadership from managers and supervisors.
Integrating safety into all key decisions – from methodology selection and staging through to execution and demobilisation – ensures that safe outcomes are a core project deliverable, not an afterthought.
Health & Safety
Wormall Civil operates an Occupational Health and Safety Management System aligned with ISO 45001:2018 and applicable work health and safety legislation, supported by multiple client prequalification accreditations.
A full‑time Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Manager, senior WHS advisors and WHS support providers work closely with project teams to ensure hazards are systematically identified, risks are assessed and effective controls are implemented and continuously monitored.
All personnel working on Wormall Civil projects are required to hold a current White Card (Construction Safety Awareness), complete a comprehensive Wormall Civil and project‑specific induction, and demonstrate competence and fitness for work prior to commencement. Safety engagement is sustained through daily pre‑start briefings, task‑specific risk assessments (such as SWMS), toolbox talks, targeted inspections and formal audits throughout the project lifecycle.
Our health and safety approach is founded on the following principles:
- No fatality, serious injury or occupational illness is acceptable.
- No task is so urgent or important that it cannot be carried out safely.
- Hazards can be identified and risks eliminated or reduced so far as is reasonably practicable.
- Every person has a responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others, including the wider community.
- Health and safety performance can always improve through learning, innovation and genuine consultation.
- Robust planning, safe systems of work and effective supervision support, rather than hinder, operational efficiency.
